Most of North Dakota looks like this field east of Jamestown. A big, grunting bison walked alongside our car when we entered Roosevelt NP.. We were surprised at the variety of things to do in the park. The beautiful North Dakota badlands. The badlands are populated by feral horses like these. These two were quite affectionate. The setting sun and storm made for quite a scene. A brave bison calf barks at the car. Bison do not sleep much. I could hear their grunts and footsteps all night. The sun set, but the weather overnight proved violent and windy. Evidence of a wet night. Our tent left a dry mark on the grass. The next morning we saw horses rifling through camp garbage and licking grills. These camp thieves are an aggressive group.
