"A country without a
memory
is a country of madmen."
- George Santayana
Above is a photo I
took of the 1000 year-old pueblo at Taos,
a center of defiance for the Puebloan
people since the 17th century. Hardly a place in this country has seen
more history. These buildings have been blown apart by
American cannons, burned down by armies
of Spanish conquistadores, and
attacked by the arrows Navajo
warriors, yet they still stand proclaiming the
story of the people who lived inside.
