Alpheus Cross was born 1 about 1775 in Vermont. He died 2 on 12 Aug 1818 in Athens Co., OH. He married Phebe Benson.
RESEARCH NOTES: Some researchers have mentioned that there is a record in the Vermont Gazette indicating Alpheus was a runaway indentured servant of Mr. Silas Walbridge in 1791. His brother Elihu Cross was also a runaway. The family was "warned out of Bennington, VT" in 1785. (Bennington Town Records 1A:163) Alpheus moved to Monroe Co., Ny, with Elihu before heading west to what became Athens Co., OH. Another brother Zeruah lived in Pennsylvania.
Phebe Benson died after 1818 in Ohio. She married Alpheus Cross.
